Out of all the Nu-Metal that exploded in the early 21st century there is only one of those bands that has actually been great enough to carry on writing awesome music and that is Deftones. Every album they’ve released has been great, with White Pony being the pinnacle of awesomeness. The new album is better than White Pony, I find that hard to say as that is the best of all the Nu-Metal related albums but it is. Whilst all the other bands faded into obscurity releasing the same repeated bullshit Chino Moreno and co just carried on upping their game, Diamond Eyes is easily one of the best albums of this year! Abe Cunningham has always been one of my favourite technical drummers too and doesn’t disappoint, out of all the different albums I’ve heard from all the different genres I’m into, I’ve always thought he had the best drum sound. If you’ve not listened to the album then get your act together and get on it.
